Update to Beyond the Walls of the Museum Training Seminar

We are pleased to update our announcement regarding our training seminar  on October 17th: “Beyond the Walls of the Museum” is open to educators as well as to the general public. There is no registration fee.

The seminar which will be held on October 17 at the Freeman Family Foundation Holocaust Education Centre will focus on the following theme:

Teaching About the Holocaust Using Recorded Survivor Testimony

*  Demonstration of the interest and the pertinence of using survivors testimonies to develop students’ critical and historical thinking.

We are particularly pleased to bring this opportunity to educators and members of the public, given the HEC’s collection of memoirs of Winnipeg Holocaust survivors, especially through our publication in 2010 of Voices of Winnipeg Holocaust Survivors, which  the provincial government distributed to every secondary school in  Manitoba. The Jewish Heritage Centre is also a full access point for researchers or members of the public to the USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive, which now allows access to the full Canadian collection of survivor testimonies. We are planning two presentations—one in the morning in English, and a second one in the afternoon in French.
